Source & targets
One source language, in depth. Two migration targets.
UnspoolCode isn't a generic multi-language code-intelligence tool. It parses VB6 and only VB6 into a full semantic dependency graph — that specialization is what makes the graph, the dead-code detection, and the migration execution actually work. Here's precisely what's in and out of scope today.
01Source language
VB6, parsed to a full semantic graph
File types parsed
.bas (standard modules),.cls (class modules),.frm (forms), and.vbp (project files) — the full file set of a classic VB6 project.
What comes out of it
Modules and procedures become graph nodes; calls, reads, and writes become edges. That graph is what every MCP tool and the dead-code detector query — not raw source text.
UnspoolCode doesn't parse other legacy languages — Delphi, PowerBuilder, classic ASP, COBOL — into a semantic graph today. If your stack is VB6, or a VB6 codebase with some of these mixed in as unparsed neighbors, this is built for you. If it's something else entirely, it isn't yet.
02Migration targets
Translate to TypeScript or C#
TypeScript
Batch-executed, dependency-ordered translation out of the same graph used for analysis — every unit goes through review before it ships.
VB6 to TypeScript migration →C#
Same batch pipeline, plus a COM-visible interop bridge (ComVisible attributes, deterministic GUIDs/ProgIds) so migrated code can call back into VB6 COM components mid-transition. Compiles clean today; full Windows-side COM activation and VB6 round-trip call-parity verification is in progress.
VB6 to C# migration →03Worth knowing
A migration project directory isn't pure VB6 for long
Once a migration starts, the project directory holds generated.ts/.tsxor .cs output alongside the original VB6 source. The file-enumeration tools recognize those extensions so the pipeline can track what's already been generated — that's tracking generated output, not a second source language being parsed into the graph.
